SPEAKER SWITCHING UNIT, which is designed to operate with the MIU and the TDU, will also allow up to 12 separate 8 ohm speakers to be connected to the one Talking Display Unit (TDU), in conjunction with up to 12 separate sensors. This complete system then provides for 12 independent and separate "zones" each with its own message and local speaker. This means that : Sensor 1 when triggered will cause Message 1 to play on speaker 1 Sensor 2 when triggered will cause Message 2 to play on speaker 2 Sensor 3 when triggered will cause Message 3 to play on speaker 3 ....and so on up to speaker number 12   Speakers can be located up to 100m from the TDU unit, or greater than 100m from the TDU if low resistance wiring is used. The remote speakers connect to the SSU via a female 25 pin D type connector. Each speaker has been allocated a specific pin position. Power for the SSU and communication between the SSU and the TDU is achieved via a single 2 pair telephone cable, which is supplied with the SSU. There is no need for any other external connections.
