DESCRIPTION
LINE SELECTOR has been specifically designed to allow any ONE TELEPHONE DEVICE to be connected as required, to ONE of TWO separate attached telephone lines. The telephone lines used can be any combination of Telstra, Optus, PABX, or even a VOIP service. An ISDN line can also be used, where a suitable ISDN-Analogue interface is in conjunction with it.
One of the Two attached lines is nominated as the DEFAULT LINE (marked LINE 1 on the Line Sharer) and the other line is then set up as the ALTERNATIVE LINE (marked LINE 2 on the Line Sharer).
Both Incoming and Outgoing calls to/from the attached TELEPHONE DEVICE can take place on either line.
Outgoing calls from the TELEPHONE DEVICE can be made on either line.
LINE SELECTOR will always choose the DEFAULT LINE (Line 1), unless you press the Line Change Code (which is programmable for any single digit) or it can also be set to select Line 2 whenever Line 1 is busy.
Incoming calls on EITHER LINE will be automatically routed to the attached device. If the attached device is already connected to a call when another call comes in on the other line, the call can be taken by any other device that may be connected to the same line.
Alternatively, if you are using an automatic receiving device such as a Fax Machine, Modem or Answering Machine to handle both lines, you may wish to use the switch selectable BUSY OUT facility, which if enabled, will automatically ‘BUSY OUT’ the other line whenever your attached device is operating.
LINE SELECTOR also provides a CALL ADVICE FACILITY, which if enabled will alert you of another call on the other line (with beeps), and will allow you to place the existing call On Hold, so that you can answer the other incoming call. You can then 'toggle' between calls as necessary by pressing *, or you can simply hang up on one call in which case you will be automatically connected to the other call.
